Emerging from St. Louis, Missouri as an underground rapper, Nato Caliph distinguishes himself through a socially conscious and thought-provoking approach that sets him apart from more prominent local figures like Nelly and the St. Lunatics. His birth name, Shedrick Remon Kelley, dates back to August 9, 1980, and his initial foray into recordings came via the independently issued 1080 in 2004. Affiliation with F5 Records led to the 2007 issuance of his follow-up effort Cipher Inside, an album that reached a wider and more diverse listenership compared to its predecessor.
