Nayer's initial pursuits in modeling and acting eventually yielded to her overriding interest in popular music. Backed by her family, she relocated to Los Angeles, CA, to shoot a video and lay down a six-song demo. Miami-based Sony Discos responded by offering her a contract. The Latin-oriented imprint was then seeking an engaging new voice for its upcoming track "First Kiss." Cut at age 16 by the teen pop newcomer and shaped by DJ Fluid as both producer and remixer in English and Spanish versions, the club/dance single "Primer Beso" rose on dance charts shortly after appearing.
