French death metal outfit Necroblaspheme originated in Paris during April 2001. From their earliest days the group embraced lethal and sacrilegious themes, a preoccupation already apparent on their debut demo, recorded that September and bearing the title Foetal Sodomy. The recording’s extreme content quickly attracted notice, securing the band a contract with the fledgling independent label Destructive Records. That imprint issued Necroblaspheme’s first full-length album, Introducing Pure Violence, in 2002, only to fold shortly afterward. Left without support, the musicians spent several years apart, during which some pursued other projects, most notably the metalcore band Murdum. Eventually the core members reassembled to prepare fresh material that took shape as the 2008 release Destination: Nulle Part. On this album the lyrics adopted a more refined and even arcane character, while the music retained an unrelenting ferocity tempered by greater technical command within the conventions of traditional death metal.
