Need New Body

Need New Body arose from the scattered pieces of Bent Leg Fatima, drawing tags that stretched from "beardo wierdcore" to "spazzcore" because the group blended noise rock, folk, avant-garde, and jazz. Percussionist Chris Powell, keyboardists Dale Jimenez and Jamey Robinson, and vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Jeff Bradbury started Bent Leg Fatima in 1996, then shifted the operation to Philadelphia in 1999 before putting out their first album. Jamey Robinson left shortly afterward, which caused the band to fall apart. A few months later the remaining players resumed performing under fresh names and brought in bassist Chris Reggiani together with percussionist Jim Reggiani. Once they finished tracking their self-titled debut in 2000, the musicians chose the name Need New Body and landed shows alongside kindred groups such as Hella and Deerhoof. The band’s next album, UFO, appeared in fall 2003. Two years after that, Where is Black Ben? came out on the Kill Rock Stars offshoot label 5 Rue Christine.
