Biography
Formed around the turn of the millennium in Cape Town, South Africa, the metalcore ensemble Neshamah initially leaned closer to traditional hardcore sounds before evolving. All members of the group, which takes its name from the Hebrew expression meaning "song of the soul," are devout Catholics, consisting of singers Matt Hoyle and Ryan van Rensburg along with guitarist Russel Aitkenhead, bassist Jen Roomes, and drummer Justin Kruger. Their discography to date includes a pair of full-length records from 2001 and 2004 titled As the Grass Withers So Its Flower Falls and Communicating in Heartbeats respectively, in addition to the 2002 EP In My Heart and a split effort shared with their labelmates Rapture of the Meek.
