Biography
Neway Debebe carries the reputation of a "voice of silk". Having studied under poet Tilahoun Gessesse, he first drew notice while serving as lead vocalist for The Roha Band, the tradition-rooted Ethiopian pop ensemble whose instrumental work has accompanied more than two hundred and fifty recordings by such top-ranked Ethiopian vocalists as Aster Aweke, Tilahoun Gessesse and Mahmoud Ahmed. Debebe has also appeared with Three Flowers, the ensemble he shares with Tsegaye Eshetu and Areghagn Wersash.
