Biography
Originally hailing from Brooklyn yet now based in New Jersey, Radiate came together when longtime friends Steve Narvaez and Scott Brenner chose to start a band. Having previously played in Longdistancerunner and Sleepasaurus, Narvaez was looking to explore fresh sonic territory. The lineup solidified once guitarist Rick Sajiun and multi-instrumentalist Jim Schultz joined, allowing the project to move forward. Following the release of a debut EP that earned rotation on hard rock and aggressive rock stations, the members—who view music as a “political, social, and spiritual power”—issued their second EP, Transmission, in 2002. That record again secured airplay on hard rock radio while the group toured both Canada and the United States. Reviewers have likened Radiate’s “electro-metal” hybrid to the work of Pitchshifter, Ultraspank, and Filter.
