The pair in question consists of Mark Archer and Chris Peat, who gained wider recognition in certain circles through their Altern 8 output. Their foundational work took shape under the Nexus 21 banner, beginning with the September 1989 release of the Still Life 12-inch on Blue Cat and continuing several months afterward with Rhythm Of Life on Blue Chip. A promotional 12-inch titled Self-Hypnosis preceded the October 1990 arrival of Logical Progression on R&S Records, with the follow-up EP Progressive Logic appearing two months later. The same duo also issued the singles Another Night and Flutes via the C&M Connection alias. Archer pursued additional solo material on the Stafford North label, issuing the DJ Nex and Poundstretcher EPs under the name DJ Nex while releasing The Midas EP as Xen Mantra. Joining forces with Danny Taurus in 1994, he launched the Slo-Moshun project and promptly achieved a Top 30 entry with Bells Of New York.
