Hailing from Nagoya, Japan, Nicfit weave strands of no wave and noise-rock through their high-octane punk approach while retaining every ounce of raw momentum. The group’s first full-length, the 2022 album Fuse, honored punk’s foundational influences—including a Urinals cover—yet simultaneously pursued fresh directions.

Guitarist Charley’s relocation from San Diego to Nagoya in search of the city’s active punk circuit led directly to Nicfit’s formation in 2009. Vocalist Hiromi, bassist KenKen, and drummer Kuwayama completed the lineup, united by admiration for Black Flag, Wire, and Magazine. Shortly afterward the quartet issued a self-released four-song demo and shared stages with Total Control, DMBQ, and Thee Oh Sees.

Tokyo’s Black Cube label released Nicfit’s debut 7", “Swell,” in 2014, which contained a cover of Suburban Lawns’ “Janitor.” The same imprint followed with a split cassette alongside Pinprick Punishment the next year. In 2019 the band issued a split 7" with M.A.Z.E. mastered by Total Control’s Mikey Young. Two years later the French label Sorcerer compiled the group’s earlier short-form material on a self-titled collection.

The band tracked its debut album at Geru Studio in Toyota City. Issued by Upset the Rhythm in January 2022, Fuse arrived with cleaner production that heightened the clarity of Nicfit’s attack.
