Biography
Nick Gilder launched his musical path as a member of the Vancouver-based group Sweeney Todd. After issuing the albums Sweeney Todd and If Wishes Were Horses, the band dissolved in 1977, at which point Gilder and fellow member Jimmy McCullouch relocated to Los Angeles. He initiated a solo trajectory that same year by signing with Chrysalis and issuing You Know Who You Are. The follow-up, City Nights, yielded the platinum-certified number-one hit “Hot Child in the City” in 1978. Although additional LPs appeared, among them 1979’s Frequency and 1981’s Body Talk Muzak, none matched the impact of his prior achievement.
