British acoustic musician Nick Harper, recognized for his accomplished guitar work and songwriting, began his professional career on the mid-'80s album Whatever Happened to Jugula, also known as Jugula, a collaboration between his father Roy Harper and Jimmy Page. He went on to tour and record regularly with his father from that point forward. Harper's first solo release arrived in 1994 with the EP Light at the End of the Kennel, followed a year later by his debut full-length album Seed. After hearing Harper perform, singer, composer, and former Squeeze frontman Glenn Tilbrook signed him to the newly formed Quixotic Records. Harper then toured throughout the U.K., North America, and Japan before issuing his first Quixotic album, the 1998 release Smithereens, which led to additional touring. His third album overall, Harperspace, appeared in 2000 and marked his second project produced by Tilbrook. Harper maintained a steady pace of recording and releasing albums throughout the new millennium while devoting considerable time to charity work and fundraisers.
