The Nidarosdomens Jentekor, also identified as the Nidaros Cathedral Girls' Choir, ranks among Scandinavia’s foremost youth vocal ensembles. Contemporary repertoire forms a central part of its activity, and the ensemble has commissioned and given first performances of numerous new works.

Founded in 1992 in Trondheim, Norway—where Nidaros served as the city’s earlier designation—the choir has been led from the outset by Anita Brevik as conductor and artistic director. Membership divides into the Girls’ Group for singers aged 10 to 13 and the Youth Group for those aged 14 to 19, yielding a total roster of 75 to 80 voices. The ensemble enjoys national recognition within Norway and broader acclaim across Scandinavia; its profile includes a performance at the 2002 wedding of Princess Märtha Louise. The same year saw the release of its debut recording, Som en Rose, on the Proa label.

The choir has appeared on several occasions before the King and Queen of Norway. Joint projects with the St. Olaf Choir of St. Olaf College in Minnesota took place in both 2005 and 2013; these concerts, captured at Nidarosdomen, aired on PBS in the United States and on NRK in Norway. The first 2L release, Magnificat, arrived in 2014 and earned a Grammy Award for Best Surround Sound Recording; the album featured the Trondheim Soloists, an ensemble with which the choir has maintained frequent partnerships, alongside the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra.

Extensive touring has taken the group throughout Norway and abroad. Guest conductors have included Edward Higginbottom, Grete Pedersen, Andrew Parrott, and composer-conductor Bob Chilcott, whose works belong to the wide range of contemporary pieces the choir has presented. Further 2L recordings with the Trondheim Soloists followed in 2019 with Lux and in 2022 with Kim André Arnesen: Tuvayhun.
