Nidji

Deriving its moniker from the Japanese term for rainbow, the Indonesian group Nidji came together in 2005. Its roster featured Giring Ganesha on vocals, Ariel and M. Ramadista Akbar sharing guitar duties, Randy Danistha at the keyboards, M. Andro Regantoro on bass, and M. Adri Perkasa behind the drums. Inspired by leading modern rock acts including the Smashing Pumpkins and Coldplay, the band promptly landed a contract with Musica Studios, a prominent label throughout the area. Their first full-length, Breakthru, arrived in 2006. Returning the following year to strengthen their standing, Nidji put out an English-language edition of that debut alongside a fresh album titled Top Up.
