Biography
Formed in 2012 and based primarily in Michigan, Nightkin entered the death metal scene equipped with substantial musical lineage and an abundant supply of powerful guitar riffs. The roster features vocalist Mike "Gunface" McKenzie from the Red Chord, guitarist Dave Lock formerly of Black Dahlia Murder together with drummer Zach Gibson, and guitarists Matt Gauntlett and Matt West, where Gauntlett had earlier performed in Incisor and Supercontinent alongside Lock. Their approach draws on the grinding force of melodic death metal, deploying expansive guitar lines and low-register vocals to yield results that register as both intricately skilled and physically alarming. Nightkin first unveiled this demanding style through the independently issued EP Nox Æterna in 2013.
