Biography
Born on 23 May 1973 in London, England, to an English mother and a Chinese-Malaysian father, Yeoh showed prodigious ability at the keyboard from her earliest childhood. She established herself as a working musician before reaching her twenties. In 1996 The Independent presented her with its Best Jazz Musician Of The Year award, and three years later she reached the semi-finals of the Montreux jazz piano contest. Demand for her skills as a session player soon extended across both jazz and pop circles; the artists with whom she has recorded or performed include Peter Bengtson, Phillip Bent, Neneh Cherry, Eddie Harris, Dick Heckstall-Smith, Joanna MacGregor, Courtney Pine, Barak Schmool, Cleveland Watkiss and Steve Williamson.
Her own writing adopts a thoroughly modern idiom and frequently incorporates computer technology during the development stage. Oxford Contemporary Music and additional bodies have commissioned new pieces from her. Whether appearing alone or directing her group Infinitum, she has toured throughout the UK, Europe, Latin America and the Far East. She also maintains a teaching practice in London schools.
