Nivel

Hailing from North Carolina, the regional Mexican outfit Nivel came together in the late 2010s, initially operating as Nivel Codiciado. Founding members comprised Jesús "Chuy" Aguilera on requinto and lead vocals, Bryan Rodríguez on saxhorn, Abel Balderas on bass, and Jeffrey Bautista on tuba. Their debut arrived in 2019 with the eight-track album Mochila Verde. Early material aligned with the corridos verdes subgenre and its pot-centered lyrics plus urban touches, though the group soon moved toward romantic material, highlighted by the 2020 single "Adueñarme," one of their first viral successes. Further albums followed with Niveleando in 2020 and Cuh Nivelado in 2022, after which the more established Grupo Codiciado lodged a legal complaint over the name. Their fourth studio album and first under the shortened moniker Nivel, Niveleando Cuh II, emerged in October 2024.
