No Second Troy

Formed in Washington, D.C. in 2004, the alternative pop/rock group No Second Troy drew its sound from a shared taste for melodic choruses and instrumental uplift. Guitarist Tom McCarthy and keyboardist Mike Beach, each of whom had lost his mother young, channeled those parallel experiences into dramatic material for the five-piece band, which took its name from a W.B. Yeats poem. The lineup reached completion when drummer Vijay Shanker and vocalist Jeff Wharen joined, enabling the group to issue its self-released debut album Fall and obtain early backing from XM Radio before the year ended. Momentum held in subsequent seasons as the band toured the Eastern Seaboard before growing crowds while releasing a steady stream of EPs, singles, and albums.
