Biography
Hailing from Oslo, Norway, the ska ensemble No Torso weaves in rock accents while drawing on an eclectic spread of touchstones that range from Hot Water Music and Minus the Bear to the Specials, Madness, and the Slackers. Their core sound nevertheless aligned most closely with a third-wave take on the ska contingent of that roster. Along with scattered compilation spots, the group delivered the Fatal Fraud EP in 2004 through Fucking Northpole Records. While most of the musicians remained below America’s legal drinking age, their first full-length, Several Brains, arrived stateside on Asian Man in May 2006. At the time the roster stood as Lars Oskarsen (vocals), Hans Friis (trombone/vocals), Bendik Brænne (sax/vocals), Martin Brostigen (guitar), Kristian Hamang (guitar), Chris Arnar Nerland (bass), and Eivind Dypvik (drums).
