Biography
No Trigger emerged from Worcester, Massachusetts, during the mid-2000s, delivering a direct, melodic hardcore punk style while building early momentum through a pair of self-released demos. Their 2006 debut full-length Canyoneer propelled the group onto the global circuit, preceding the more widely spaced Tycoon in 2012 and Dr. Album in 2022.
The band came together in 2001 with an initial roster featuring singer Tom Rheault, guitarists Mike Pryzgoda and Jon Strader, drummer Mike Ciprari, and bassist Tom Ciesluk. That lineup issued the self-released demo EP The World Is Not a Stage in 2003. The following year brought a split release with Rhode Island’s Wasteland, which Japanese imprint Big Mouth Records later combined and remastered as the 2005 EP Extinction in Stereo. Aligning with hardcore acts such as Strike Anywhere and Rise Against, No Trigger joined the Nitro Records roster and issued Canyoneer as their 2006 debut album.
Extensive international touring followed, encompassing shows across Japan, South America, Europe, and Australia, after which the group stayed largely inactive until the 2010 Be Honest EP. They resurfaced two years later on the No Sleep label with their second album Tycoon, produced by Jay Maas of Defeater. Further touring ensued, yet another five-year interval preceded the 2017 Adult Braces EP. The band eventually signed with Red Scare, prompting a lineup shift in which Jono Diener took over drums from Ciprari while Ciesluk shifted to guitar and keyboard to accommodate new bassist Brad Rheault. Red Scare then released Dr. Album in 2022, marking No Trigger’s third album and first full-length in a decade.
