Formed in Brooklyn, the alternative hip-hop outfit No Wyld brings together rapper Mohammed "Mo" Kheir, singer-keyboardist-producer Brandon Black, and guitarist Joe Pascoe. Stomping beats, ominous tunes, anxious lyrics, and airy atmospherics define their sonic approach. Kheir and Pascoe first crossed paths as university students in New Zealand during 2007. Black joined them two years later, prompting the start of their creative partnership. The trio issued their debut album Preface in 2012 while still operating under the name the Wyld. A switch to No Wyld followed, and the Abstract EP arrived in 2013. The track "Odyssey" from that release appeared in a McDonald's commercial aired throughout the 2014 Winter Olympics. Columbia Records welcomed the group to its roster in 2014. Nomads, their initial full-length project under the label, surfaced in 2016.
