Memphis-based outfit Nonconnah crafts eerie auditory landscapes and assemblages chiefly through antiquated recording gear. Projects like the 2021 release Songs for and About Ghosts incorporate shoegaze guitars, field recordings, grainy samples, and acoustic instrumentation, shaped into oneiric progressions.

The married duo Denny Wilkerson Corsa and Zachary Corsa first began recording under the name Lost Trail during their time in Burlington, North Carolina. From 2011 through 2017 they issued more than fifty works via imprints including Reverb Worship, Already Dead Tapes, and Illuminated Paths. Upon moving to Tennessee they adopted the moniker Nonconnah, began working with extra musicians on a more regular basis, and yet persisted in generating lo-fi dreamscapes built from warped, reversed guitars alongside found audio. Their earliest outing, Winter EP, came out on the longstanding experimental imprint Silber Records in 2016. The first full-length, The Gloom & the Glowing, arrived via Custom Made Music in 2017 and earned favorable notices across multiple online outlets. After several further EPs and limited editions, Nonconnah delivered Dead Roses, Digged Up Zombies, Broken Pieces of Diamonds, Live Cats through Ernest Jenning Record Co. in 2019. That expansive album featured contributions from Dustin Wong, Dan Friel, Greg Saunier of Deerhoof, cellist Lori Goldston, and assorted other prominent players. A digital compilation of unused material called Seek Not Your Fortune also surfaced the same year. The live improvisation Massachusetts Graves together with the EP Transcription of Headstones both emerged in 2020. Nonconnah then unveiled Songs for and About Ghosts in 2021, an expansive album containing string arrangements by Owen Pallett and synth performances by Jenn Taiga.
