Angel Marcloid operates as a Chicago-based musician and visual artist, gaining primary recognition through her Fire-Toolz identity while directing instrumental work under the Nonlocal Forecast banner toward fusion jazz, prog rock, and new age sources. The 2020 album Holographic Universe(s?)! seeks to summon recollections of the mellow, agreeable incidental tracks that accompanied Weather Channel segments, though realized through denser, more technically demanding arrangements.

Marcloid has long participated in the American experimental noise community, yet broader recognition arrived once she issued material as Fire-Toolz throughout the mid-2010s. The 2017 album Drip Mental assembled aggressive, challenging patchworks from numerous genres, pitting the extremes of black metal, cybergrind, and electro-industrial against calmer surfaces borrowed from smooth jazz and vaporwave. She introduced the Nonlocal Forecast name in 2019 via the Hausu Mountain release Bubble Universe!, which developed the gentler, less aggressive facets of Fire-Toolz while preserving elaborate structures and wide-ranging eclecticism. Later that year she digitally self-issued the extended remix collection Triangular Reformat, which drew from both Fire-Toolz and Nonlocal Forecast catalogs. The follow-up Nonlocal Forecast album Holographic Universe(s?)! arrived in 2020 and featured contributions from avant-garde saxophonist Bhob Rainey along with fusion musician Kyle Jameson.
