Norine Braun, a Canadian singer and songwriter working in pop and rock, first saw the light of day in Ottawa. Her earliest live appearance took place while she was still a teenager attending high school. National attention arrived in 1993 after Factor presented her with the New Demo Award. The independent debut Modern Anguish followed in 1996 and proved an enjoyable listen.

Her second album, Miles to Go, appeared in 1999, with Crow arriving the next year. Songs featured across these projects include “Tears of an Angel,” “Love and Not Fear,” “Dancing Sea,” “Slipping Into Violet,” “Another Man’s Fate,” and “Dreams.” Most of the material merges pop and rock with touches of blues and folk. Session support came from saxophonist Tom Keenlyside, background singer Kathleen McGee, and guitarist-bassist James Bowers, while further local work involved Roger Skinner and Bill Waldron.

Away from the studio, Braun fronts the Mood Swings, whose lineup includes lead guitarist Mark McKenzie, bassist Rick Law, and drummer Rob Fourchalk.
