In 1989 Héctor Sánchez (aka Lalo), Luis Sánchez (aka Luisito), David Rodríguez (aka Rocolo), and Guadalupe Levario (aka Lupillo) came together under the name Norteños de Ojinaga, borrowing the title from the Mexican town that became the launch site for their musical project. The same quartet, also billed as La Furia Fronteriza (Border Rage), made its first appearance on record with Ese Arbolito and continued the following year with the releases Bonita and Al Rojo Vivo.
