Biography
Hailing from Denmark, the solitary Nortt functions as a withdrawn vocalist and multi-instrumentalist devoted to the style critics have termed "depressive black funeral doom," an approach whose nearest counterparts lie with Australia's equally desolate and misanthropic Disembowelment. He launched his creative efforts in 1995 and has since produced multiple demos, among them 1997's "Nattetale," 1998's "Doeden," and 1999's "Graven," together with authorized material that consists chiefly of concise singles and EPs such as 2002's Hedengang and 2003's Gudsforladt. The latter year also brought the release of a retrospective collection, Mournful Monuments 1998-2002, that gathered his dispersed early recordings, yet this remains the fullest portrait available of an artist who has deliberately maintained a low profile.
