Biography
Nu Soul Habits functions as a soul duo uniting instrumentalist Eddie Towns, Jr. with singer Tonye Hilmon, channeling the 1960s era of Motown and Stax/Volt by deploying vintage instruments, sounds, and arrangements rather than sampling techniques. After each moved west to advance their musical ambitions, the pair connected through a mutual acquaintance in Los Angeles in 1985 and recognized shared stylistic leanings along with compatible influences. Their first album, Meant to Be, appeared in 1994.
