Nuclear Death, an Arizona outfit, ranks among the scant thrash and death metal groups fronted by a woman, Lori Bravo, who also plays bass and performs with guitarist Phil Hampson plus drummer Joel Whitfield. The three musicians came together in the mid-1980s and released multiple demo cassettes, among them 1986’s Wake Me When I’m Dead, 1987’s Welcome to the Minds Of, and the two 1988 titles The Morbid and Vultures Feeding, before unveiling their debut full-length, Caveat, in 1990. Additional albums appeared across the 1990s, among them the metallic gross-outs Bride of Insect, Carrion for Worm, For Our Dead, All Creatures Great and Eaten, and The Planet Cachexial.
