Biography
Number 19, a New York quartet, fuses adventurous sonic palettes with strong compositional craft while exploring experimental directions inside alternative and indie rock. Leah Collof (cello, vocals), Sarth Calhoun (bass), Tony Diodore (violin, guitar), and Marc Righter (drums) formed the lineup after the musicians first connected during a 1999 jam session that produced an immediate mutual understanding. Their clear instrumental command soon attracted steady listeners, both at individual concerts and on multiple online outlets where the tracks repeatedly reached the highest chart positions. Following an appearance on a Searching Eye Records compilation, the band issued its debut recording, a self-titled demo.
