Number One Fan

Formed in Appleton, Wisconsin, the emo outfit Number One Fan brought together vocalist and guitarist Nicholas Ziemann, bassist Michael Ziemann, guitarist Matthew Reetz, and drummer Jonathan Fries. Its roots extend to roughly 2001, when the founding members were still enrolled in high school. Like other young acts of the era, the group built awareness through nonstop live shows and by circulating MP3s across the internet. An independently issued debut attracted notice for its pop melodies and rousing lyrics, prompting industry veteran Pat Magnarella to sign Number One Fan as the first act on his Universal-distributed Pat's Music label. The album Compromises subsequently appeared again in August 2004, now featuring updated mastering and new cover art.
