Biography
Emerging from South Korea, Oathean have demonstrated the expansive reach of black metal's shadowy appeal by cultivating a dedicated audience across Eastern Asia ever since their formation in 1993, when they performed under the moniker Odin. Initial promise shown through early demo recordings paved the way for a series of progressively sophisticated melodic black metal releases, each with evocative titles such as Eyes of Tremendous Sorrow (1998), Ten Days in Lachrymation (2001), the retrospective The Last Desperate Ten Years as Ever (2003), and Fading Away into the Grave of Nothingness (2005). For the final of these efforts, the group's lineup featured Do-Su Kim handling vocals and guitar, alongside Hee-Do Lee on guitar, Hye-Ryung Koo on keyboards, Yong-Hee Park on bass guitar, and Woon Kim on drums.
