Biography
Emerging in 2012, Obliterations channel the wild energy of 1980s hardcore punk and speed metal through their punk sound. The Los Angeles-based group came together thanks to guitarist Stephen McBean from Black Mountain, bassist Austin Barber from Saviours, and vocalist Sam James Velde from Night Horse. These musicians had encountered one another during tours with their other projects prior to making California their home. United by shared admiration for acts such as Black Flag and Born Against, the three began jamming sessions that developed their intense, unpolished style amid breaks from their main band commitments. With the addition of drummer Flo Schanze, the band advanced further by inking a deal with Southern Lord and entering the studio alongside Chris Owens of Young Widows to lay down their first full-length release, Poison Everything, in 2014.
