Biography
In 1990 Philippe Saucourt and Bruno Fleutelot launched their first collective effort under the name les Gens. The four-member outfit soon fractured under the weight of clashing influences, prompting the two friends to form a more streamlined duo project called Orlando. That partnership likewise reached an impasse and dissolved. From the remains came Oboken, a venture in which the pair finally shared a coherent vision centered on post-folk music. Philippe concentrated on songwriting while Bruno concentrated on dismantling what might otherwise have remained conventional folk material.
