Biography
Emerging as yet another splinter from the groundbreaking punk outfit Black Flag under guitarist Greg Ginn’s direction, October Faction assembled SST veterans into a collective that fused jazz with hard rock, operating chiefly as an instrumental outlet. Functioning less as a steady ensemble and more as a sporadic jam session, the project yielded two albums issued on the SST label in 1985 and 1986. An unofficial roster drew contributions from Bill Stevenson, Henry Rollins, Joe Baiza, Chuck Dukowski, Tom Trocolli, Greg Cameron, and the ever-present ringleader, Greg Ginn.
