Biography
In the closing years of the 1990s, guitarist Peter Hertmans joined forces with tenor saxophonist Jeroen Van Herzeele, bassist Sal La Rocca, and drummer Jan De Haas to establish the Belgian post-bop ensemble Ode for Joe, an outfit dedicated to honoring the legacy of the esteemed tenor saxophonist Joe Henderson. Their performance at the Gaume Jazz Festival in 1995 was captured live and issued under the title Ode for Joe by Igloo Records the following year. De Werf put out the follow-up recording Caribbean Fire Dance in 1999.
