Biography
Okgiorgio assembles an atypical strain of dance music, layering jittery, high-speed fragments of acoustic guitar alongside accelerated vocal snippets that evoke the atmosphere of a Bon Iver DJ set rather than standard club fare.
Born Giorgio Pesenti in Bergamo, Italy, in 1996, he first attracted attention domestically through Iside, the indie pop collective he established alongside school friends. The group’s fusion of electronic rhythms and organic acoustics helped shape his subsequent Okgiorgio productions, which also drew on production techniques honed through work with Italian artists including Pinguini Tattici Nucleari, Carl Brave, and additional regional acts.
In 2023 he issued his debut EP ok, introduced by the preceding singles “okok” and “okokok,” with all five tracks on the release adhering to the same titling pattern. While remaining dancefloor-friendly without overt aggression, Okgiorgio’s output distinguished itself within the electronic dance landscape through both its sonic character and his playfully irreverent gestures, such as a livestream focused on a pasture of grazing cows.
Throughout 2024 Okgiorgio advanced several parallel endeavors. The collaborative single “Forza” with Italian DJ Estremo received multiple club remixes, while Pesenti himself delivered a remix of ODESZA and the Knocks’ “Love Letter.” He further issued the wistful standalone singles “ok :)” and “ok
