Om, a band whose name consists of but a single syllable, brings together the celebrated rhythm section from Sleep, featuring Al Cisneros handling both bass and vocals alongside Chris Haikus on drums. Departing from the massive scale of stoner and doom metal that defined their prior work, the pair now channels a gentler yet equally mesmerizing style of drone rock, incorporating elements of monastic and Tibetan chanting. Following their reunion in 2004, the musicians have issued their expansive sonic explorations through collaborative split EPs alongside artists such as Current 93 and Six Organs of Admittance, in addition to full-length releases including Variations on a Theme from 2005, Conference of the Birds in 2006, and Pilgrimage in 2007.
