The eccentric U.K. art pop duo Omo pairs Berit Immig, who also belongs to the eccentric U.K. art pop band the Chap, with conceptual/experimental visual artist David Muth. Earlier, the pair had performed as members of Karamasov alongside the Chap’s Johannes Von Weizsäcker. Their work as Omo began in 2004, when they started shaping curious electronic/acoustic pieces with “small instruments” and labeled the results “domestic pop for domestic occasions.” These genially simple yet decidedly strange songs draw on retro lounge music, library music, Krautrock, and abstract electronica, among other styles, while maintaining a wryly deadpan lyrical focus on everyday objects and occurrences. After several compilation tracks and live appearances—the first of which took place at the Berlin Aquarium during a lunch break—their debut album, cheekily titled The White Album, appeared on Lo Alternative Frequencies in 2009 together with a split 7" single issued alongside the Chap.
