Biography
Formed in Oslo during 1987, the Norwegian trio One 2 Many stands out as perhaps the strongest contender for the dual distinction of most forgotten one-hit wonder in history. After inking a deal with A&M in 1988, the band issued its only album, Mirror, in Norway later that same year, where it climbed to number three thanks to the lead single "Downtown," which topped the domestic chart. By early 1989 the track had logged modest success across additional European markets, encouraging A&M’s U.S. division to promote the group stateside; "Downtown" subsequently scraped into the lower reaches of the Top 40 by spring. Yet once the follow-up singles "Another Man," "Writing on the Wall," and "Nearly There" appeared, the trio had already disbanded, cementing the fleeting reputation cited above.
