Biography
Irish rock outfit One Day International came together in 2007. Rather than logging time on Dublin stages to build a following, the group chose to refine its sound within a studio setting and began shaping its first full-length record right after forming. Attention soon followed from those sessions, leading the band to launch its initial national tour alongside Broken Social Scene. Early notice had already surfaced thanks to vocalist and songwriter Matt Lunson, whose contribution appeared on a track that the Divine Comedy's Neil Hannon cut for an Oxfam charity compilation. While finishing the album, the members mapped out another tour and offered an early glimpse of their direction by issuing a self-titled EP in 2007 and appearing at CMJ in New York. Throughout 2008 the International maintained a full schedule of live dates behind that album, Blackbird, slated for release toward the end of the year.
