Emerging in 2018, the Swiss trio ONETWOTHREE united former Kleenex/LiLiPUT bassist Klaudia Schifferle with Sara Schär, who had played in TNT/The Kick, and Madlaina Peer from Noknows. All three musicians had performed on bass in their prior groups, which belonged to the influential Swiss punk movement spanning the late 1970s and early 1980s, so they first envisioned ONETWOTHREE as an ensemble limited exclusively to bassists. Their self-produced debut instead incorporated full instrumentation, layering funk grooves, rigid rhythms, and post-punk rawness across the self-titled album that Kill Rock Stars released in 2021, resulting in minimal, wiry post-punk that stays danceable while echoing the approach of the members’ earlier bands.
