Biography
In 2007, Tampa, Florida's Order of Ennead arose from the remains of Council of the Fallen, the progressive death/black metal outfit that had issued two albums in the early 2000s and counted vocalist/guitarist Kevin Quirion, bassist Scott Patrick, and drummer Steve Asheim (recognized for his Deicide tenure) among its ranks. Adding young guitarist John Li to the lineup, the founding trio signaled their new chapter by selecting the ancient Greek term Ennead, which denoted the nine deities thought to have originated civilization. They promptly secured a contract with Earache and laid down their self-titled debut album, an effort that combined thrash, death, black, and progressive metal into a potent sonic mixture both ferocious and occasionally laced with surprising melody. Quirion and Asheim remained occupied that same year through additional performances alongside Deicide.
