Orquesta Aragón

Hailing from Cuba, the charanga ensemble Orquesta Aragon rose to prominence with a style rooted in traditional son. That foundation combined an African rhythm section and Spanish melodies, which the group augmented by incorporating three violins. Beyond their reputation as leading interpreters of son, Orquesta Aragon are recognized for helping spark the New York mambo scene. Their playing appears on That Cuban Cha-Cha-Cha as well as on Riverside Years, where they collaborated with Beny More and Perez Prado.
