Biography
Born in Pahokee, Florida, to parents Orville Davis, Sr., and Eleanor Sue Davis, country singer and guitarist Orville Davis passed his childhood in that town until his family relocated first to Alabama, then again to Florida, and ultimately to Georgia, where he completed high school. Singing and guitar playing occupied him from an early age, leading him into membership with the rock band Hydra, which issued a pair of albums on Capricorn Records. Honky tonk country nevertheless remained his primary passion, and he pursued it as a solo performer. After settling in New York City in 1976, he established himself as a touring sideman while also contributing vocals to advertising spots for K-Mart jeans, Suzuki SUVs, and Subway sandwiches. His first album, Howl at the Moon, appeared on Fountainbleu Entertainment in 1996, with the follow-up, BarnBurner, arriving in 2005.
