OsamaSon cultivates a dark, gritty aesthetic across the 2023 mixtapes Osama Season and Flex Musix, reflecting the surging rage beats movement within hip-hop that thrives on high-energy, synth-heavy production. Born Amari Middleton and raised in Goose Creek, South Carolina, the artist began sharing material on SoundCloud as early as 2021, highlighted by the underground favorite Im Da Man. Momentum built through the 2023 singles “cts-v” and “Thuggin W My Rounds” prompted a contract with Atlantic Records, which issued Osama Season later that same year; among its streaming standouts were “Werkin,” “Troops,” and the abrasive “X & Sex.”
Listeners and reviewers alike drew parallels between OsamaSon’s singsong delivery and the densely packed rage beats associated with Playboi Carti’s Opium label roster, a resemblance underscored when certain social media posts from Carti were read by some as subtle jabs at the rising newcomer. Flex Musix followed later in 2023, promoted via the single “Trenches” and a 2024 tour backed by the Rolling Loud festival.
