Biography
Born in Los Angeles, professional boxer Oscar de la Hoya, who harbors a deep passion for music, entered the Latin pop arena through the issuance of his self-titled debut album. From a young age, de la Hoya dedicated himself to boxing, beginning his training at the Eastside Boxing Club in L.A., securing the gold medal at the 1990 Goodwill Games, and claiming Olympic gold two years afterward. In an effort to uplift his local community, he established the Oscar de la Hoya Youth Center, offering a secure space for neighborhood youth, alongside the Oscar de la Hoya Learning Center, dedicated to providing after-school academic support. To pay tribute to his mother Cecilia, a Latin singer, his inaugural album appeared via EMI Latin on October 10, 2000.
