In Los Angeles, the band OSLO blends energetic alternative rock compositions with the sharp edge of post-punk. Their albums, including the 2007 effort The Rise and Fall of Love and Hate and the 2011 release High Mountain Sessions, Vol. 1, brought them both mainstream appeal and praise from critics, with tracks featured in notable series such as CSI: NY and Shameless. After pausing for five years, the group reconvened and issued the 2016 EP titled The Morning After.

Formed in 2003, OSLO revolved around the core members Mattia Borrani handling vocals, Kerry Wayne James on bass, and Gabrial McNair playing guitar. Known primarily for his work as a touring musician with No Doubt, McNair was joined briefly by another No Doubt alum Adrian Young on drums until Charlie Walker assumed the role. Damon Ramirez joined on keyboards prior to the band's self-titled debut album in 2005. However, it was the follow-up record that gained OSLO broader recognition. Produced by Ryan Hewitt and Sam Fogarino of Interpol, the 2007 album The Rise and Fall of Love and Hate featured the popular radio song "Slowdive." Additionally, their music appeared in television programs including CSI: NY, The Unit, and Crash.

The subsequent 2011 EP High Mountain Sessions, Vol. 1 produced another notable cut with the intense "Riff Raff," which was included in an episode of Shameless. Beyond fresh songs, this collection contained two remixes: one by the returning Fogarino and the other by Andy Monaghan from Frightened Rabbit. Subsequently, OSLO entered a period of inactivity lasting several years. In 2016, the primary creative trio of Borrani, James, and McNair reunited to put out the five-track EP The Morning After.
