Northside Houston native OTB Fastlane upholds the city's signature style through expansive anthems suited to both neighborhood blocks and strip clubs. The rapper first connected with listeners when his breakthrough single "Dawg Azz" gained traction in those clubs, later amplified by social media and featured on his 2018 debut album Metro Mart Baby.

Sharing common ground with scene forerunners Slim Thug and Paul Wall, Fastlane favors powerful bass lines and 808s. His initial single "Dawg Azz" quickly resonated in Houston's underground scene and spread widely through an accompanying social media challenge. The song appeared on the 2018 release Metro Mart Baby, which also showcased Chase Money Scrap, J Stead, DJ Chose, and recurring partner King Lay. Fastlane issued three mixtapes in 2019—Don't Miss the Bus, Thank God 4 Tidwell, and Busville—all through his own imprint OffTheBlock, while another single, the booming "My Bussin," also connected with audiences.

His fourth project, 90 Day Dogg, arrived in 2020 and contained the reflective track "Hope We All Win." He joined Big Tony that year on the hypnotic, lean-focused cut "Drank Baby."
