Biography
L.A.-based alternative R&B duo Kali and Tali, performing under the name outsideOUTSIDE, craft atmospheric productions centered on anxiety, loss, and depression through a lens of heightened romanticism. Rooted primarily in electronic textures, the pair navigate the intersection of urban styles and emo, building directly on the foundation laid by trap and mumble rap. This direction appears most clearly on their single “almostDEAD,” which includes a guest verse from rapper Yung Bans.
Prior to any public releases, a demo reached Warner Bros., resulting in an immediate signing in 2018 and the subsequent launch of their debut single “Habits” on the label. Throughout the remainder of the year they issued additional tracks gradually on streaming platforms, culminating in the project If I Don’t Wake Up, which contains “almostDEAD.” Later in 2018 the duo delivered their first full-length album, Hell with My Friends.
