Biography
New Zealand's Over the Atlantic, an indie electronic outfit built around multi-instrumentalists Nik Brinkman and Bevan Smith, came together after Brinkman had already begun shaping the project alone and placed several tracks on compilations. Their introduction, arranged by a mutual friend in early 2004, prompted Smith—who had previously recorded as Aspen, Signer, and Skallander—to join immediately, converting the venture into a duo well before that summer concluded. The pair’s first full-length, Junica, appeared on Carpark in September 2006; later that fall they played additional dates alongside labelmates Beach House.
