Paganus

Established in the Finnish town of Hamina during 2002, Paganus focus on doom metal, the singular style that yields four-track releases spanning nearly sixty minutes. This description holds for the outfit’s opening long-player, captured on tape in 2006 and matching those precise dimensions. Personnel adjustments continued across subsequent years until the roster stabilized with Markus Lanki handling vocals, Manu Liira on guitars, Teemu Muhli on bass, Mikko Nenonen supplying noise, and Tomi Pekkola behind the drums. That configuration coincided with the group’s signing to the Jerusalem-based imprint Totalrust Music. Issued in 2008, the self-titled Paganus marked their first outing for the label and drew favorable notices from critics.
